FOUNDER

Born and raised in Lebanon, Jean immigrated to Canada in 1976. A kind, charming man with a deep care for hospitality, integrity, and quality, as well as helping people look and feel their best, Jean then began what would be 9 years of extensive training in the hair industry. Jean holds a degree from Johnson’s Beauty College, and has also trained at Martin Parsons in Toronto. After completing his official training, Jean was driven to start a hair and aesthetics business that could provide for his family and their children. In addition, he determined that his business would have a legacy founded on top-quality service, an unrivalled reputation, and incredible hospitality. True to his dream, what would become Ablaze Hair Group opened in 1984. Since, he has been deeply grateful for every opportunity to service each client that sits in his chair. Jean is always advancing his craft, and now has been cutting hair for more than 45 years, giving him a breadth of knowledge and experience that makes him a true artisan in his field. Although he is a master of many style techniques, he still maintains his favourite services to perform are cuts and perms. When he’s not at the salon, delighting clients and passing his wisdom on to his team of stylists, he’s delighting in his family, most of all his 6 grandchildren.

CREATIVE DIRECTOR

Born and raised in northwest Calgary, Feras discovered a passion at a young age to encourage and uplift people. Helping people see their value has always brought him a deep joy, and this same drive has effortlessly translated to his vocation as a stylist. Feras began his apprenticeship at Ablaze in September 2004, and has since become Ablaze’s creative director. Feras’ warm, encouraging manner and laid-back style makes every service he performs incredibly natural. Through advanced training from Vidal Sassoon and Goldwell, Feras became an accredited red seal journeymen in March 2009, signifying his mastery of cut and colour techniques. Since, Feras has maintained an attitude of learning. He takes great pride in his colour services and texture refinements, and as a result, he has committed to continuing education with Goldwell to ensure that he can always meet clients’ advanced colour requests. In addition, he considers each day to be a refinement of his cutting skills. When he’s not at the salon, Feras enjoys hanging out with his daughter, and closely follows NHL, NFL and MLB.

Born and raised in Calgary and originally completing her cosmologist education at St. Francis High School, Monica has been with Ablaze since 1991. With 30+ years of experience, she is a dedicated and professional stylist who is passionate about helping her clients achieve as style that makes them look and feel their best. With a deep source of knowledge and skill to draw from, Monica enjoys all aspects of hairstyling and is advanced in colours, highlights, and men’s and women’s haircuts, as well as perms.

Since moving to Calgary from Australia, Emma has been a fixture at Ablaze since June 2016. She has been styling hair for more than 20 years, and prides herself on her precision cuts and everyday wearable colors. Meeting new clients and helping them achieve a hairstyle that suits their lifestyle is what makes her work so rewarding! Emma loves working at Ablaze because of the great team environment and amazing guests! When she's not at Ablaze, Emma enjoys canvas painting and being outside!!

Hello, my name is Carolina and I am originally from Mexico. I studied hairstyling in Montreal before moving to Calgary in 2019. I've been in the industry for 11 years now. I have always been fascinated with personal beauty care, especially hair care and different hair styles because I believe the condition of your hair and style reflect so much about how much you take care of yourself and who you are. And I love being a part of expressing and visualizing clients' inner-beauty and character. My goal is to provide a wonderful experience with my service and satisfy you with a beautiful result. Cindy originally became part of the Ablaze team after graduating from Jacobs Beauty School in 1984. After 5 years working with Jean and enjoying and learning from his professionalism and expertise, in 1989, Cindy forged out to start her own business. After nearly 25 years of in-depth experience, Cindy happily returned to the Ablaze family in February 2014. Cindy loves Ablaze because of the variety of clients, her close relationship with Jean, and the fantastic team atmosphere. Growing up in rural Alberta, Cindy was instilled with a high value for family and hospitality, and has effortlessly infused it into her work and family. Cindy’s infectious charm gives her an unparalleled ability to deliver a “personal touch” for each customer, new and old, and is a joy to clients and coworkers alike. If that weren’t enough, she also has 40 years of experience cutting and styling hair, and has loved every minute of it! Whether she is perming, cutting, foiling or coloring, Cindy sees each clients’ needs as a unique challenge, and describes herself as a “utility” stylist; if a client can dream it, she can do it! When she isn’t working, you can be sure she’s enjoying time her beloved family.
